of a Virgin Mary

Female head with eyes lowered, a veil
covering her forehead and hair that forms a type of turban.
The drawing can be compared to the Virgin Mary of the
Spindles on which, according to a letter by Pietro da
Novellara, was working in 1501. It has been attributed to
the school of Leonardo bu Pedretti and Suida whilst others
have put foreward the names of Sodoma and Luini. Dated
around 1510.

Testa femminile con occhi abbassati, un velo sulla fronte e sui capelli
che forma quasi un turbante. Il disegno è da mettere in
relazione alla Madonna dei fusi cui Leonardo, stando a una
lettera di Pietro da Novellara, stava lavorando nel 1501. Il
turbante è quasi lo stesso. È stato attribuito alla scuola di
Leonardo da Pedrettti e Suida; altri hanno avanzato i nomi del
Sodoma e di Luini. Databile intorno al 1510.
