The more visible figure is that in the centre, a woman wrapped in a cloak,
seen from the knees upwards. In front of her head is a
virile bust and details of two legs. On the left-hand border
appear traces of a larger leg. There has been much
discussion as to whether or not Leonardo was the artist of
these pictures but the more visible one recalls the
Scapiliata , a sketch found in Parma dated 1508, showing a
face that is banal neither in expression nor in the
inclination of the head. The hand does seem to be added in
desperation.

La figura più visibile è quella al centro, una
donna avvolta in un mantello, vista frontalmente dal ginocchio
in su. Di fronte alla sua testa c’è un torso virile e due
particolari di gambe. Sul bordo sinistro appaiono tracce di una
gamba più grossa. L’attribuzione a Leonardo è stata
discussa, ma la figura più visibile richiama la Scapiliata, un
bozzetto conservato a Parma e datato 1508, e mostra un volto
decisamente non banale nello sguardo e nell’inclinazione del
capo. Però la mano sembra un’aggiunta disperata.
