Recto: five sketches, of an old man and a young woman one above the other.
The old man with a beard, seen from a right profile with his
shoulders at three-quarters, appears in the upper left
corner but does not belong to the grotesque category. The
eyelids in the lower figure show evidence of an illness, a
“basalioma” or a drop in the epithelium. Only the backs
of the female figures are visible, their hair wrapped in a
net. It should be noted that the third female figure is
really only visible under a spotlight for it was drawn with
a metallic point. A young woman seen from the back holds her
hand out towards the door drawn in prospective. It is
perhaps one of Leonardo’s later works, placed between 1508
and 1510.

Recto: cinque schizzi, di un vecchio e di una giovane, disposti su due
file. Il vecchio barbuto, di profilo a destra con le spalle di
tre quarti, che appare nell’angolo superiore sinistro non
appartiene alla categoria del grottesco: la palpebra inferiore
evidenziata è un sintomo di malattia, specificata nel
particolare a destra. Un basalioma, un decadimento delle cellule
epiteliali. Le figure femminili sono di spalle, entrambe con i
capelli avvolti in una rete. La terza figura femminile, citata
per dovere, è in realtà visibile solo sotto luce radente,
perché frutto della pressione di una punta metallica; una
giovane vista di spalle che tende la mano verso una porta
(di)segnata in prospettiva. È forse uno dei disegni più tardi
di Leonardo, collocabile tra il 1508 e il 1510.
