A side view of an old woman is a continuation of disappearing layers. The
elaborate headress closed by a jewelled clip tightly covers
the hair and ends in a veil inserted into the dress. The
forehead consists of two bumps over a hunched nose,
descending into a toothless mouth over an inexistent chin.
This image may be found humorous, perhaps a little tragic
but certainly sullen and, in an atrocious but funny way, the
carnation peeking out of the bodice. Dated around 1495.

L’anziana donna, vista di profilo, è un susseguirsi di piani
sfuggenti. L’elaborato copricapo, chiuso da un fermaglio con
una gemma, contiene strettamente i capelli e finisce con un velo
che si infila nella veste. La fronte scende in due balze su un
naso ingobbito e poi scosceso da cui precipita la bocca sdentata
sopra un mento assente. Qualcuno trova umoristica questa
immagine: forse è un po’ tragica e certamente arcigna, e di
(atrocemente) divertente c’è il garofano che spunta dal décolleté.
