The upper drawing represents a type of ladder to attach to
the bow of a boat to attack marine fortifications or “towers”.
The inscription reads that the half-moon counter-weight must
be full of wet hay as a protection for bumps. The ladder,
once left, is raised imitating the movement of a catapult.
It was to be used in calm sea conditions. The second drawing
shows an apparatus to bend the beams used in the
construction of roofs, well anchored to the ground. The bend
is obtained by progressively lowering the position of the
posts into the holes on the right side of the machinery.

Il disegno superiore rappresenta una sorta di scala da montare
sulla prua di una nave per assalire fortificazioni (“torri”)
marine. L’iscrizione dice che il contrappeso a mezzaluna deve
essere pieno di fieno bagnato e servire, in posizione di riposo,
da protezione contro gli urti. La scala, una volta rilasciata,
si alza imitando il movimento di una catapulta. Da usare in
condizioni di mare tranquillo. Il secondo disegno mostra un
apparato per piegare le travi destinate alla costruzione di
tetti, ben ancorato a terra. La piegatura si ottiene abbassando
progressivamente la posizione dei pioli nei fori sulla parte
destra del macchinario.
