Previously attributed to Leonardo and Bernardino Luini, it is characteristic of Cesare da Sesto in style and the technique in the preparation of the paper in tones of red. In the upper left corner there appears the writing “Leonardo”. It might be a copy of drawing for the Madonna dei Fusi by Leonardo. One of the sketches shows the same position of the head in respect to the body that may be found in the drawing by Leonardo, housed in the Royal Library in Turin.

Già attribuito a Leonardo e anche a Bernardino Luini, è caratteristico di Cesare da Sesto per lo stile e la tecnica di preparazione del foglio con toni rosati. Nell’angolo superiore a sinistra appare la scritta “Leonardo”; può essere una copia degli studi leonardeschi per la Madonna dei Fusi. Uno degli schizzi mostra la stessa posizione della testa rispetto al busto che si trova nel disegno di Leonardo conservato nella Biblioteca Reale di Torino.
