The Leonardo Commission did not publish this drawing. Berenson, however, considered it to be by Leonardo but observes: “I am not completely convinced of the authenticity of the profile of the old man in the Accademia in Venice, due to its poor quality, but if it is by Leonardo, as is probable, it was used as the head painted between the two soldiers brandishing their swords in the Battle of Anghiari.

Questo disegno non è pubblicato dalla Commissione Vinciana. È ritenuto di Leonardo da Berenson, che però osserva: “non sono interamente convinto dell’autenticità del profilo di un vecchio, all’Accademia di Venezia, a causa della sua qualità più scadente; ma se fosse, com’è probabile, di Leonardo, servì alla testa fra i due guerrieri che brandiscono le spade” nella Battaglia d’Anghiari.
