The Leonardo Commission did not include this drawing in its catalogue. Berenson only mentioned it in the third edition in 1961 of Florentine Painters and relates it to the Battle of Anghiari. It seems to be a late work due to the heaviness of the horses and the figures in the shadows, which resemble the drawings of Cesare di Sesto, one of Leonardo’s school.

La Commissione Vinciana non accoglie questo disegno nel suo catalogo; Berenson lo cita solo nella terza edizione (1961) dei Pittori fiorentini e lo mette in relazione alla Battaglia d’Anghiari. Sembra un’opera tarda per le forme pesanti del cavallo e le figure quasi a chiaroscuro, e ricorda i disegni di Cesare da Sesto, della scuola di Leonardo.
