This is a study of the face of St. Anne for the group of the Virgin with St. Anne found in the Louvre. There is, however, some doubt because it seems that the portrait of a young and vivacious person is in contrast to the composure of the elderly St. Anne. It might be a preparatory work for the Virgin, even if there is no sign of it in the finished canvas.

Uno studio per il volto di Sant’Anna, per il gruppo della Madonna con Sant’Anna del Louvre. Qualche dubbio, però, perché sembra il ritratto di una persona giovane e vivace, in contrasto con la compostezza dell’anziana Anna. Potrebbe essere un lavoro preparatorio per la Vergine, anche se non trova riscontro nella tela definitiva.
