SAINT
LUDOVICO FROM TOULOUSE
These
figures are painted on the walls at the end of the right arm of the
transept. To emphasise the idea of a loggia Simone used the representation
of small spiral columns placed in the forefront whilst the background
contains the inevitable blue sky.
Apart from the faces of the saints that were certainly painted as
frescoes, the rest of the work was probably dry painted considering the
mediocre state of conservation.
SAN LUDOVICO DA TOLOSA
Queste figure sono dipinte sulla parete di fondo del braccio destro del
transetto.
Le figure sembrano affacciarsi da
un parapetto marmoreo che ne nasconde la metà inferiore. Per dare maggior
rilievo all’idea di una loggia, Simone si è servito della
raffigurazione di colonnine tortili, poste in primo piano, mentre sullo
sfondo si intravede l’immancabile azzurro del cielo.
A
parte i volti dei santi, certamente eseguiti a fresco, il resto
dell’opera, visto il mediocre stato di conservazione, deve essere stato
eseguito a secco.
