THE
APOSTLE PAUL
The
figure of the apostle Paul is represented on one of the three mullioned
windows present in the chapel. The design on the glass is usually
attributed to Simone Martini despite the absence of stylistics elements
able to confirm this. It is believed that the coarseness and the weight of
the figures on the glass may be a consequence of the drawings from the
early artistic life of Simone and a mediocre representation of the designs
on the glass.

La figura dell’apostolo Paolo è raffigurata su una delle tre finestre a
bifora presenti nella cappella.
Anche il disegno delle vetrate
viene, generalmente, attribuito a Simone Martini, nonostante siano assenti
elementi stilistici in grado di confermarlo.
Si
suppone che la grossolanità e la pesantezza delle figure delle vetrate
possano essere attribuite sia all’appartenenza di questi disegni al
primo periodo di formazione di Simone, sia ad una mediocre traduzione in
vetro dei disegni.
