È questa, forse, la sola statua senese del Quattrocento in cui la lezione di Donatello sia stata compresa nello spirito e non soltanto nella forma. Le due opere del Maestro relative allo stesso soggetto (il rilievo del Battistero e la figura del Duomo) sono state assimi­late in una interpretazione che unifica solenne dignità ed energia patetica.

This is, perhaps, the only 14^th century statue from Siena where Donatello’s ideas have been included in spirit and not only in form. The two works by the Master covering the same subject (the relief in the Baptistery and the figure of the Cathedral) are assimilated in an interpretation that unites solemn dignity and pathetic energy.
