Marco, la fascia con i mestieri è certo la più tarda; essa rinnova l'iconografia consueta con una ingegnosa varietà di motivi, legando le diverse figure per mezzo di vibranti trapassi chiaroscurali, creando complesse suggestioni spaziali nello scorrimento dei piani: sostituisce così alla dura plastica romanica un nuovo pittorico modo d'intendere la scultura. It renewed the usual iconography with an ingenious variety of motifs, linking the different figures by means of vibrant light and dark passages, creating complex spatial suggestions in the flow of the planes. In this way there was a substitution of the hard, plastic Romanesque with a new pictorial way of intending sculpture.
