Monumento a Emanuele Filiberto
L'unico
scultore italiano la cui opera può dirsi veramente informata a
idealità romantiche, fu il Marochetti, piemontese, ma lungamente
operoso fuori d'Italia, in Francia prima, e quindi in Inghilterra. Con
l'Emanuele Filiberto, omaggio alle prime prove di una politica
liberale in Piemonte, diede la testimonianza più alta della capacità
di piegare la materia ad esprimere «brucianti affetti». |

The
only Italian sculptor whose work is directly imbued with Romantic
idealism was Marochetti, a Piedmontese who worked for some years outside
Italy, first in France and later in England. With this monument, homage
to the first early stirrings of liberalism in Piedmont, he gave the
highest proof of his ability to bend the material to the expression of
"burning emotions"
