Pomodoro Giò    Terra e sole L'esperienza informale, depurata in una sensibilità perfino troppo sofisticata (sempre memore della calibratura del gusto derivato dalla lunga pratica dell'oreficeria) si riveste di allusioni naturalistiche e di suggestioni surreali che non toccano, per altro, la struttura necessitante dell'immagine, ma condizionano il disporsi continuo del segno, la cui posizione variata nel contesto causa sempre nuove combinazioni; in tal modo all'atto del formare tende a sostituirsi quello del significare, alla plastica la scrittura. Per il rapido logorio delle poetiche cosiddette d'avanguardia (già Pomodoro ha mutato sensibilmente) non è prevedibile la soluzione di questo radicale sovvertimento delle tecniche tradizionali. Valga quale appunto per un discorso futuro.

Pomodoro Giò    Earth and Sun Pomodoro's art, once purged of its oversophisticated form (one must remember the artist's long practice as a jeweler), reclothes itself in naturalistic allusion and surreal hints. These do not impinge on the necessary structure of the image, but determine the disposition of the sign whose shifting position in the context produces new combinations. In this way, the act of bestowing form tends to be replaced by that of signifying, and plastic values yield to those of calligraphy. Because of the rapid turnover in so-called avantgarde art (Pomodoro has already changed considerably), it is hard to foresee the solution of this radical subverting of traditional techniques. We must wait and see.
