Perez Augusto    Il boia Il pittoricismo epidermico della tradizione meridionale, gemitiana addirittura, sortisce alle torbide germinazioni di certo surrealismo di stampo inglese e il severo impianto classico, arcaico, piega insensibilmente a cadenze e a timbri popolareschi. Ma è la volontà di scansione spaziale, più che la vena fabulistica ed aneddotica, a condizionare le sdutte strutture plastiche che obbligano la fantasia ad una serrata essenzialità allusiva.

Perez Augusto    The Executioner The surface pictorialism of the southern tradition, stemming directly from Gemito, is combined with the turbid surrealism of modern English sculptors; also the severe archaic conception unconsciously takes on folk accents. But it is the strength of spatial emphasis, more than the vein of fable or anecdote, that conditions the twisted structures, binding the fantasy in its tight and essential allusiveness.
