la specie tipo ha fusto eretto, con rami grossi 2-3 cm, foglie lunghe 12-15 mm che durano mesi, poche e sottili spine lunghe circa 1 cm. e peli bianchi, lunghi, finissimi e molli che avvolgono tutto il ramo. Fiori rossi.
Le forme crestate, come quella rappresentata, sono ormai molto comuni e presenti in molti gardens.

Coltivazione: pianta di alta quota, mal sopporta l'afoso caldo estivo. E' preferibile sistemarla in posizione leggermente ombreggiata in ambiente molto aerato.

Riproduzione: per semina e per talea di ramo. Le forme crestate, più delicate, si moltiplicano più facilmente per innesto

This species has an erect stem, with 2-3cm large stalks, 12-15mm leaves which last for months, rare and slim thorns about 1cm long and white, long, fine and rubbery hairs which completely cover the branch. The flowers are red. The crested species, as may be noted in the representation, are now common and present in most gardens.
Cultivation: These plants are found in high altitude and do not like hot, stuffy summers. It is best to put them in slightly shady, airy places.
