GARNAHOVIT - St. Gevorg / VII century
This church stands in the village of Garnahovit at the foot of the western slopes of Mount Aragac’ in the region of T’alin. It is one of the better preserved examples of the tetra-conical types with cylindrical niches on its diagonal axes that lead to four square rooms at the corners. The space at the base ends in a system of roofs (today partly ruined) that emphasise, on a higher plane, the position of the four apses forming a large aerial cross. Where the beams cross is an octagonal tambour with the larger sides on the main axes and the minor ones on the diagonal axes.

A ring of discs, faintly carved into the curve immediately above a second system of conical connections, indicated the dome. The part missing has today been substituted by a flat, wooden roof.
