Sowing

The scene is full of details. At the back the urban scene seems to be divided from the rural environment by means of a wall following the river. On this side of the river all the peasants are at work, the women washing the clothes on the banks of the river, some men intent on pulling the boats and, in the forefront, the seeds ready for sowing. To the left a farmer is furrowing the ground and another on the right is sowing the corn whilst a third with a bow is intent on hunting crows that are waiting to eat the corn.

La semina.

La scena si propone ricca di elementi. Sul fondo, la mole urbana sembra quasi essere divisa dall’ambiente rurale attraverso una cerchia di mura che si levano lungo il fiume. Al di qua delle mura tutti i servitori al lavoro, le lavandaie all’opera sulla riva del fiume, alcuni uomini intenti a trainare delle barche e, in primo piano, il lavoro organizzato per la semina. Sulla sinistra un contadino sarchia la terra, un altro sulla destra semina il grano ed un terzo, con un arco, è intento a cacciare i corvi pronti a beccare il grano.
