Setting off on the hunt

The artist of this picture representing the start of a wild boar hunt shows the difference between damsels and rich lords easily recognisable because they are on horseback and sumptuously dressed and their servants who walk beside them together with the dogs. All this is reinforced by the overhanging vision of the city in the distance. The acute characterisation of the types of dogs is worth noting as in this way they become fundamental protagonists of the scene.

La partenza per la caccia.

Anche in quest’immagine, che rappresenta la partenza per la caccia al cinghiale, l’autore mette in luce la differenza tra dame e ricchi signori, riconoscibili perché a cavallo e sontuosamente abbigliati, e i servitori, che camminano al loro fianco insieme ai cani. Il tutto è rafforzato dall’incombente visione della città in lontananza. Degna di nota è l’acuta caratterizzazione delle razze dei cani, che in questo modo divengono protagonisti fondamentali della scena.
